The U.S. Department of Justice has officially filed charges against two suspected leaders of the Beltrán Leyva group, Pedro Inzunza Noriega and his son, Pedro Inzunza Coronel, for their alleged involvement in large-scale drug trafficking of substances such as fentanyl and cocaine, along with acts of terrorism.

Blockchain analysis agencies have discovered that this group is using cryptocurrency to launder money and fund drug activities. According to a report by Chainalysis, over 5.5 million USD has been paid to fentanyl producers via Stablecoin, and U.S. authorities have seized related assets.

Organizations such as TRM Labs and Elliptic point out that fentanyl raw material suppliers widely accept cryptocurrency payments, and drug gangs have received tens of millions of USD through cryptocurrency.
