U.S. lawmakers urge investigation into CFTC chair nominee Quintenz's relationship with prediction markets

According to news from Hashi Chain, U.S. Representative Dina Titus has requested CFTC acting chair Caroline Pham to investigate CFTC chair nominee Brian Quintenz. Quintenz is awaiting a confirmation vote from the Senate Agriculture Committee, but the vote has been canceled twice, and some people in the cryptocurrency industry have expressed concerns about his nomination. There is controversy surrounding Quintenz's association with prediction market company Kalshi; although he claims he will resign upon confirmation, he remains under scrutiny. Additionally, experts have requested information through the Freedom of Information Act, revealing that Quintenz's partner may have obtained non-public information from the CFTC, related to the approval process for "designated contract markets" that Kalshi could potentially compete with. Titus emphasized the public needs to understand the circumstances of Quintenz's involvement in regulatory areas of interest, expressing concerns that he may not be able to comply with ethics and conflict of interest regulations.
