Ethereum ETHUSD is showing signs of strength and caution after a sharp 49% rally last week. EMA indicators remain bullish as the market cap climbs above $300 billion, but momentum indicators are starting to cool.
ADX has fallen from 61 to 47.99, while RSI has dropped from 86 to 63, suggesting that the uptrend may be losing steam. However, buyers are still active and if ETH breaks above the key resistance, the next rally could break past $3,000.
ETH DMI Signals Rising Bearish Pressure and Cooling Rally
Ethereum’s DMI indicator shows that the ADX has fallen from 61 to 47.99, indicating that trend strength is weakening.
The ADX (Average Directional Index) measures the intensity of a trend, with values ​​above 25 indicating a strong trend, while values ​​above 40 indicate very strong momentum.
A falling ADX, while still high, could indicate that the current trend is losing momentum, although analysts have recently suggested that Ethereum could overtake Bitcoin.
The +DI line has dropped sharply from 47.96 to 27.2, indicating that the bullish momentum has cooled significantly.
Meanwhile, the -DI line has risen from 3.39 to 13.97, indicating that bearish pressure is beginning to build.
Although the trend is still in favor of the bulls, the gap between +DI and -DI is narrowing, and if this continues, Ethereum could experience a short-term pullback or enter a price stagnation phase. However, in recent hours, +DI has risen and -DI has fallen, suggesting that ETH buyers are trying to maintain control.
Ethereum RSI Has Retreated from Overbought Territory, But Still Rising
Ethereum’s RSI has fallen to 63 from 86 three days ago, and has remained above the overbought threshold above 70 for three days.
Interestingly, despite the recent decline, the RSI has rebounded from 54 a few hours ago, indicating renewed buying interest in the short term.
The RSI (Relative Strength Index) is a momentum indicator that ranges from 0 to 100. Readings above 70 typically indicate overbought conditions and the potential for a pullback, while readings below 30 indicate oversold conditions and a possible recovery. Readings between 50 and 70 typically indicate moderate bullish momentum.
At 63, Ethereum’s RSI suggests that the asset has cooled from recent overbought levels but still retains some underlying bullish strength. This could mean that the market is recalibrating after a strong rally, providing room for another rally if buying continues.
Ethereum Targets $3,000 with 43% Weekly Gain, But Critical Resistance Remains
Ethereum price is up 43.5% in the last seven days, pushing its market cap above $300 billion. The EMA lines continue to show a strong bullish structure, reinforcing the current uptrend.
However, ETH recently tested the $2,617 resistance and failed to break above it.
A successful breakout above this level could open the way to $2,855 and even $3,000 for the first time since early February, and if momentum picks up, it could extend to $3,442.
On the downside, $2,320 support is critical. If ETH tests and loses this level, the price could fall to $1,938. A stronger downward move could push the price to $1,736.
